A second sale has been added due to popular demand! We have it all-cookbooks, fitness books, children’s books, new fiction, old fiction, romance, history, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records and so much more that you’ll have to come out and see for yourself!  All of this for prices that can’t be beat!!

The book sale will be held at CatNap’s parking lot from 9am to 3pm and will feature our soon to be famous CatNap Cafe where you can get something to drink and some baked goodies to enjoy along with your new purchases.

If you have some free to time help set up before the sale from 7-9am or break down after the sale from 3-5pm, please call the shelter to let us know.

Arlene and Lisa Salamendra, two talented local artists, will have their striking, animal inspired art shown at the La Grange Art League Gallery from September 27, 2010 through October 29, 2010. The Opening Reception will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 1pm – 5pm at 122 Calendar Avenue, La Grange IL 60525. The artists have generously offered to donate a percentage of their sale proceeds to CatNap from the Heart! Arlene and Lisa will also raffle off two prints at the reception; just bring in a “gently used” towel for the CatNap kitties to recieve your raffle ticket. Raffle tickets may also be purchased.  Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to CatNap. Please join us at the Opening Reception or visit the gallery at your convenience.

Artist Cheryl Ann Spran invites you to enjoy her work of pastel and acrylic paintings of Beloved Pets at The Blue Max  from mid-August through October 2010.  A portion of the proceeds from Cheryl’s art sales will be donated to CatNap from the Heart!

CatNap is having a cocktail party to raise money for the care of all of our furry friends in the shelter who are waiting for homes.  The evening will start at 6pm and will be held at the newly remodeled William Tell Hotel and Banquet Center at 6201 Joliet Road in Countryside, IL.  Tickets are $50 before 10/25 ($60 after) and will include appetizers, a pasta station, and desserts.  A cash bar will be available as well.  Some of the festivities of the evening will include:  silent auction, live auction, and split the pot.  Music will be provided by Chris Espada of Toby Rhodes Productions.   We hope you will join us for a fun-filled evening to help our wonderful animals!

Local Artist Audrey Cordova is interested in helping CatNap! Please attend the opening reception of her art exhibit on August 7th at The Tamale Hut Cafe, 8300 W. Cermak Road, in North Riverside IL.  Audrey will raffle off a piece of her beautiful artwork and donate the proceeds to CatNap! Her art will be on display from July 18 – September 25.

This event is back by popular demand! Join us for team trivia (up to 6 people on a team) and have fun while raising money to help homeless animals! Come for the trivia fundraiser and stay for the dancing and DJ at 9pm if you are so inclined. $20 per person entrance fee gets you 2 free drinks, chicken & beef flautas, entry into the door prize raffle and the chance to win great prizes including a keg party for up to 20 people, courtesy of Tequila Mockingbird. We will also have a split-the-pot raffle and silent auction. This venue is one block away from the Metra Brookfield and there is also ample street parking.

Shop for treasures while helping animals? What can be better?! Find what you are looking for at the CatNap Yard Sale Fundraiser on Saturday, July 17th from 9:00am – 3:00pm. As always, the yard sale will take place in CatNap’s parking lot at 1101 Beach Avenue in La Grange Park. Make sure you stop by the CatNap Cafe for some tasty baked-goods and a refreshing drink while shopping. Donated items for the yard sale are welcome (no clothing, please) and can be dropped off at the shelter during business hours. Also, new this year, have a cup of coffee or a refreshing beverage and some homemade baked goods at the CatNap Cafe while you wait for the yard sale to officially open or to take a break from treasure hunting.

CatNap will have a Veterinarian and CVT on site to provide low-cost microchipping and nail trims for cats, dogs, and rabbits. Through this event, we hope to reduce the number of unclaimed stray animals that enter animal shelters in our community.

Each year, thousands of stray animals enter animal shelters. Many of these animals have simply wandered away from their homes, but their lack of identification makes it impossible for shelters to match them back up with their previous owners. Microchipping is a simple procedure that provides a permanent form of identification for your pet so that it can always be returned to you if it is ever lost.

CatNap hopes to reduce the number of unclaimed stray animals that enter local shelters, which could also reduce the number of animals euthanized in local shelters. Prices for services at the event are as follows:

Microchips: $20 for cats and rabbits, $25 for dogs
Microchip Registrations: $25*
Nail Trims: $10 ($5 for front-declawed cats)

All procedures will be performed under the supervision of Pamela Cuevas, DVM and Betty Wood, CVT.

Be sure to visit the CatNap Cafe for some tasty baked goods and a refreshing drink while you wait for your friend(s) to be microchipped. There will also be new and gently used cat and dog items for sale.

*The microchip registration links your pet’s AVID microchip directly to your home address. If you do not wish to purchase a registration, the microchip will be registered to CatNap, and we will return your pet to you if it is found as a stray.
