About

CatNap from the Heart

CatNap from the Heart is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) animal shelter, specializing in the adoption of cats, kittens, birds, rabbits and small mammals. CatNap’s primary goal is to accept as many pets as possible and to find a suitable and loving home for all of them. Many of our pets come directly from local owners who are unable to keep them for reasons of finances, health, or change of living situation, often due to foreclosure. When space permits, CatNap also works with animal control agencies, including DuPage and Chicago Animal Care and Control, local police departments, area vets, and open admission shelters to rescue animals that would otherwise be euthanized.

CatNap is a no-kill shelter and there is no time limit for any animal. We believe in treating our residents as if they were our own pets for the duration of their stay, including toys, free-range time, and love. Bonded pairs are always kept together. Foster homes and kennel staff pay close attention to each animal’s special preferences and needs, and this information is used to carefully place each animal in not only a good home, but in the right home for both the pet and its human caretakers.

Our Shelter Director, Bobbi Meyer, works on a full-time volunteer basis six days a week. She provides behavior counseling as needed with owners who believe they must give up their cats. Our remaining staff and volunteers include people of all ages who devote many hours of service, both inside and outside the shelter, including off site adoptions and educational seminars. CatNap is continually seeking to expand our volunteer base.

We also offer nail clipping services, and boarding on a limited basis.
